Hello Everyone!
The festive period is fast approaching and we know people are getting into the party spirit and that is certainly the case here at SalesAgility!
One of the fantastic things that makes SuiteCRM the most preferred fully open source software is our fantastic community!
It is incredible what the community can do and we appreciate their contribution in helping us to continually improve SuiteCRM for all of its many millions of users around the world. With this in mind we are pleased to announce an event to unite existing and new contributors to help with further improving SuiteCRM 7.11 – via our pull request list!
So lets put up the decorations, make some eggnog, and merge some holiday pull request crackers (bad pun)! We cordially invite you all to our SuiteCRM Pull Request Party!
The idea came from many of our members who would like to see even more community collaboration to tackle the increasingly large PR list. So we’ve listened to that great feedback to create our new concept of a pull request party which we believe will meet the needs of our wonderful SuiteCRM community and be a whole load of fun in the process!
The pull request party rules are simple – everyone in the SuiteCRM community joins in to help successfully merge as many pull requests in our github repo between December 17-18 in any timezone. When we say helps us this naturally depends on the kind of contributor you are. All contributions are most welcome including:
- If you are a user – you could help triage and confirm pull requests work, share your experience to the pull requests and contribute your feedback
- If you are a developer – you could fix bugs, provide code reviews, and also test. If you are really adventurous you could provide tests to add to the our SuiteCRM test suite!
- If you are a writer – you could identify in the pull requests how the documentation could be improved
To make things as streamline as possible, there will be an IM channel dedicated to the party that members of the SalesAgility Team will be present on to support all contributors.
So stay tuned for the full details early next week – rules, event specific goodies, and how to get involved! We would love to hear your feedback by contacting us via community@suitecrm.com
Now you just need to decide what to wear!
Hello, that’s great news 🙂
I hope you’ll build some nightly demo version of SuiteCRM based on branch to which will the changes merged and will them show on hourly bases that will possible test them.
Also will appreciate if will possible have admin part in this demo, because many issues are also related to admin area, which ins’t possible test on current yet.
Miky (#Mausino)
Hey Mausino! So good to see you!
We actually have a nightly and a vanguard build using hotfix & develop respectively though it only pulls down the branch daily rather than hourly, but that is a good shout out. We’ll talk internally about that to help with the event!

What would be the local setup needed to properly contribute here?
e.g. as a user: how do we test pull requests?
Hi John!
Ideally it would be great to have a local set up of the repo so that you can easily pull down code from pull requests. We are publishing a detailed tutorial on how to do that.
We also know that there are SuiteCRM community members who are willing to test but unable to use a local instance to play around with. So we’ll provide a demo instance that we aim to refresh with the latest merged pull requests as often as every 3 hours (unable to make it hourly unfortunately).
Hope that helps everyone to join in.
