Instructions for install on Mac OSX (10.9.2)

Hello all:

I’m new to SuiteCRM and have only downloaded the Demo, but now I’d like to download the active file. I’ve downloaded the zip file, but now there are too many files to make sense of it all. Any directions out there?

I am running this on a Mac (OSX 10.9.2).

Many thanks!

Eric

Hi Eric,

Do you have MAMP set up? You need to extract the zip, set the correct permissions and run an install. It is advised you have the correct MySQL/PHP versions outlined in the Documentation.

Thanks,

Will.

Hello Will,

Thank you for your reply. I can now see the install instructions, but they are vast and not very intuitive, it takes some learning.

I have the zip file downloaded, but do I need to have a central server (i.e. other than putting it on a single laptop)?

Cheers,

Eric

Hi Eric,

If you are running on a Mac you would need something like MAMP to run the webserver/MySQL DB/PHP base to allow the application to run.

Thanks,

Will.

Thank you. Do you have any suggestions of where to get MAMP? I see many options out there, however, I lack the time to research all of them.

Hi Eric,

See this link.

Thanks,

Will.

Thank you Will. I’ll take a look.

Eric

Hi
I know that the question is dated 5 year ago but as I had the same difficulties, I’d like to share what I learnt so for the new users at least a piece of complementary answer is here :

1)Install MAMP here : https://www.mamp.info/en/
You need MAMP to “browse” the files of suiteCRM for configuring it and finalizing its installation
2)Watch this video that will guide you through suiteCRM installation Wizard : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FA5NEjJh7d4
3)Note that Default Username & Password for MySQL Databases in MAMP are “root”
You need it for DataBase configuration when installing suiteCRM

Cheers
Sarah
