Salutation in campaigns: Item Name showing instead of Display Label

After upgrading to 7.10.4 for $contact_salutation campaign mail receivers see the internal item name, not the display label. This only happens with campaigns. When using the internal mail client, $contact_salutation correctly shows the display label on the receiver side. Any ideas?
