Automating a opportunity after quote template is completed

Is there a way to automatically have an opportunity created, based on the information entered in when creating a quote template?

It seems like the opportunity is a prereq for the quote, but it seems very redundant to create an opportunity, which I don’t even know the amount for yet, before I create a quote template.

I would like to just go through the quote template process, and when it’s saved. It will create an opportunity, using the field values that were entered during the quote.

Any direction would be very helpful, thanks!

Don’t use the Opportunity if you don’t really need it! It’s perfectly ok to simplify the pipeline, to drop a few modules you don’t need.

If you decide to use both, have a look at the Workflow module, you can use it to create a record from another, and pass some information along.
