I don’t understand your question, of course content shows without searching first.
Can you tell us exactly what steps you’re taking, and perhaps give us some screenshots?
And also maybe try the same thing on the live demo, to see if it behaves like your system:

If you go to the Accounts-module from the main menu (Sales->Account), you get a list of 20 accounts. In my setup this list is empty, and I have to perform a search first before i get a list of accounts…
Ok, that looks like a malfunction in your system. It’s not a setting.
Maybe you can look in your logs for any clues. Or check your browser’s developer console for any errors, or try a different browser, or a different SuiteCRM user.
Sorry for my late reply. Unfortunately I can’t find anything in the logs… I’ll try with creating a fresh install, and then i’ll diff the both setups. That should probably find what is wrong. Creating a new user did not help, so the problem has most likey to do with something messed up in the db…
Normally it’s not DB corruption, it’s permissions issues in Linux. I would check those if I were you.
Can you please post the results of this command, given from your SuiteCRM root folder:
ls -al
This will give me a quick glance of your settings.
Do you know which user your web server is running under?
It’s apache that is running the process as www-data.

The permissions look right at first glance…
This is basic question, but have you tried a few repairs from Admin / Repair?
- quick repair and rebuild
- rebuild relationships
- anything mentioning caches and javascript and minified files
Yes, i rebuilt everything that could be done via the UI. I am btw running 7.8.5, and i’m going to stick to this version because the new UI is just horrible

That looks like theme Suite7. Can you try with theme SuiteR?
I have two installs with 7.8.6. The first has this problem, the second works as expected. So i don’t think that it has to do with the theme.
I’m just diagnosing. If the theme change fixes the problem, that covers a certain area of files that could be broken/corrupted/badly customized. It also works around a lot of caching issues.
Just in case anyone needs it… In SugarCRM this behavior is directed by option save_query from config.php.
- If save_query = populate_only then you get that message.
- If save_query = all then you get the list.
